Dedicating Chris LeDoux Bronze Statue
New Music from Ned Coming Soon
The Cheyenne Frontier Days event has always been special to the LeDoux family, and on July 23, 2021, Ned LeDoux will open the sold-out concert of his father’s good friend Garth Brooks. Next month’s 125th rodeo and western celebration is dedicated to the legendary Chris LeDoux, and earlier that day, son Ned will help dedicate a bronze statue of his bronc-riding champion father near the entrance to Frontier Park in Cheyenne.
“To start the day honoring my dad with this amazing bronze statue and end it by sharing the stage with Garth will be a great day,” said Ned. “And definitely one to remember.”
The massive statue celebrates Chris LeDoux winning the 1976 bareback riding world championship. The original bronze is on display in LeDoux’s hometown of Kaycee, Wyoming. The front hooves of the Kaycee sculpture rest on Chris’ guitar, and the Cheyenne sculpture will stand on the Cheyenne Frontier Days logo with a guitar resting against the base. Renowned artist D. Michael Thomas created both statues.
On the music front, Ned spent last year’s quarantine writing a flurry of new songs and has been back in the studio working on his third album. Again produced by Mac McAnally, fans can expect a steady roll out of new songs later this year with the album slated for early 2022.
| This year marks 50 years since Chris LeDoux’s debut music release, Songs of Rodeo Life. To celebrate the anniversary, a 13-song, vinyl-only album of live and studio tracks will be available HERE beginning today, July 2, 2021. Ned contributes a song on the album as a true co-write between Ned, his father and McAnally. Ned found rough lyric ideas for the track “We Ain’t Got It All” in a file of unfinished songs, and the first new Chris LeDoux song in 20 years was created. |
