Country fans, this one’s for the heart and the hometown. Healing Appalachia, the largest recovery-based music festival in the U.S., returns for its sixth annual event on September 19–20 in Ashland, Kentucky — and it’s bringing the biggest names in country music back to their roots.

Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton, two of the Commonwealth’s most celebrated artists, are coming together for a rare joint hometown appearance. With a full lineup announcement coming soon, fans can already grab early bird tickets now through June 3rd.

A Homegrown Mission With Global Impact
What started as a small concert for 1,500 fans has grown into a movement of more than 20,000 people gathering to celebrate music, recovery, and community spirit. This year, Healing Appalachia moves from West Virginia to the Country Music Highway in eastern Kentucky — the same soil that gave us Loretta Lynn, Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, and The Judds.

“This is about music with a mission,” said Dave Lavender, board president of Hope in the Hills. “Both Tyler and Chris have boldly shared their journeys and now they’re bringing it back home to the hills that raised them.”
Why It Matters
Healing Appalachia is more than a concert. It’s a boots-on-the-ground movement powered by music and recovery. All proceeds go to Hope in the Hills, a nonprofit that has distributed over $1 million to addiction prevention, trauma recovery, and harm reduction efforts across Appalachia. The festival is operated by an all-volunteer board, with nearly 500 local recovery volunteers running everything from security to stage construction.
It’s a place where music meets second chances, where fans can dance alongside people actively working toward recovery — and where country music proves, once again, that it’s about so much more than the radio.
Be Part of Something Bigger
Held during National Recovery Month, Healing Appalachia is a celebration of life, community, and the power of music to heal. With a track record of artist-driven purpose and grassroots support, it’s one of the most meaningful events you can attend this year.
