Big Bend is calling bluegrass fans back to Alpine for two days of high-lonesome harmonies and close-up picking.
The fifth annual Big Bend Bluegrass Festival takes place October 2 and 3, 2026. The indoor event pairs nationally recognized musicians with workshops and informal jam sessions in the mountain-desert setting of Far West Texas.
One weekend pass covers both days of performances.

Special Consensus brings five decades of bluegrass history to Alpine. Founder Greg Cahill is an IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award recipient and a member of the SPBGMA Hall of Greats.
Edgar Loudermilk adds an award-winning bass voice to the weekend. The two-time SPBGMA Bass Fiddle Performer of the Year has collected more than 40 industry awards and nominations during his career.
Righteous Intonation brings a particularly fitting sound to Big Bend. The Western string band builds songs around cattle drives, outlaw stories, Texas towns and the less polished truths of frontier history.

An Indoor Festival with Room to Pick
Big Bend offers available seating inside, and fans may bring their own chairs. The indoor format means the music continues rain or shine.
Free workshops give players a chance to sharpen their skills. Jamming activities make the weekend as welcoming to musicians as it is to listeners. Discounted lodging arrangements are also available through participating Alpine properties, but rooms in the region can fill quickly.
