It’s time to dust off your boots, Calgary! Canada’s premier country music festival Country Thunder Alberta is gearing up for another unforgettable weekend with the announcement of festival headliners:
Multi-PLATINUM hitmaker Cody Johnson, 2024 CMA New Artist of the Year Nominee Bailey Zimmermanand history making 7x CMA Vocal Group of the Year winners, Old Dominion. This year’s epic lineup will return to the heart of downtown Calgary August 15-17, 2025.
“We can’t wait to bring this star-studded lineup to Calgary,” said Country Thunder CEO, Troy Vollhoffer. “Alberta is home to some of the most passionate country music fans in the world and our top priority is to deliver world-class entertainment to them year after year. I think we’ve knocked it out of the park this year and I know fans will think so, too!”
Cody Johnson will be performing at Country Thunder Alberta for the first time this summer. Johnson has skyrocketed to success with numerous celebrated albums and an award-winning feature-length documentary “Dear Rodeo: The Cody Johnson Story.” The country crooner has 42 Gold and Platinum certifications, nearly 8 billion global streams and three #1 singles. Recently named “Best New Country Artist” at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards, the former competitive bull rider turned country hitmaker will bring his explosive live show to The Confluence for the first time. He recently released a new album, Leather Deluxe Edition, which contains his current single “I’m Gonna Love You” with Carrie Underwood.
Bailey Zimmerman will return to the festival after his show-stopping performance in 2023, making his headline debut at Country Thunder Alberta this summer. The rising country superstar has quickly made a name for himself, earning the top streaming debut album of the year across all genres and the biggest streaming country debut of all time with his debut album Religiously. The 2023 Billboard Country Rookie of the Year has toured globally, selling out his first ever international headline tour this year, in addition to joining Morgan Wallen’s One Night At A Time World Tour. Zimmerman is now headlining festivals worldwide and fans can look forward to an electrifying performance from one of the biggest new country stars.
PLATINUM-certified and an unstoppable force in country music, Old Dominion will be making their headline debut at Country Thunder Alberta after previously performing at the festival in 2017. The 7X ACM and 7X CMA “Group of the Year” have nine #1 singles, surpassed 5 billion streams and earned over a dozen Platinum and Gold certifications since breaking onto the music scene in 2007. The superstar country group will bring their chart-topping hits to the main stage for an unforgettable performance this summer.
Garnering even more excitement for the 8th edition of Country Thunder Alberta, organizers revealed that Award-winning artists Ashley McBryde, Jake Owen, Riley Green and Clint Black will join Canada’s top talent Tim Hicks, James Barker Band, Lindsay Ell and Owen Riegling for an already impressive lineup, making this year’s edition the most anticipated yet.
