After a noticeable THIRTEEN YEAR absence, Toby Keith has officially announced that he will be playing again at last in Nashville as part of his Interstates and Tailgates tour. The July 20th date at the Ascend Amphitheater will go on sale on Wednesday, June 28th at 10:00am.
With 30 more dates on the itinerary that will continue through summer (and more to be added), the tour also heralds upcoming new music – Keith’s first since 2015’s critically acclaimed 35 MPH Town. Released on June 23rd, “Wacky Tobaccy,” written with longtime collaborator Scotty Emerick, is now available at all major digital music retailers and services. Out the same day is a music video for the song featuring guest appearances by Willie Nelson, Mac McAnally, and Emerick.
“Wacky Tobaccy is a slogan, a saying that’s been around forever and no one has ever written it in a song,” says Keith. “The song is written to the screws, and it fits in with what we do every night with the party crowd.”
As the tour started, Toby stayed in his native Oklahoma to attend to the important matter of his 14th Annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic in Norman, Oklahoma that raised $1.6 million, a record breaking amount for a single event in the Toby Keith Foundation’s history.
