Red Dirt fans, the hype is real. When Cross Canadian Ragweed announced their first reunion show in 15 years, no one could have predicted the record-breaking demand that followed. What started as a one-night-only event in Stillwater, Oklahoma quickly expanded to four sold-out nights at Boone Pickens Stadium—selling a staggering 180,000 tickets with thousands still left empty-handed.

Now, Texas is getting its turn.
On February 11, Cross Canadian Ragweed answered the call by announcing a massive co-headlining show with Turnpike Troubadours at McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas, on August 23. Within hours, the Baylor University stadium show was completely sold out, proving that Ragweed’s reunion isn’t just a moment—it’s a movement.
The Boys from Oklahoma Are Coming to Texas
Fans lucky enough to secure tickets will be treated to an all-star Red Dirt lineup featuring:
American Aquarium – Opening the night with their signature gritty storytelling
Wade Bowen – The hometown favorite, handpicked by Cody Canada himself
Shane Smith & The Saints – Bringing their anthemic sound to the big stage
And, of course, the co-headlining return of Cross Canadian Ragweed, sharing the stage with the unstoppable Turnpike Troubadours.
Industry Shock & Record-Breaking Demand
The insane ticket sales for these reunion shows have left the music industry stunned. Selling out massive venues like Boone Pickens Stadium and McLane Stadium is something typically seen with global megastars like Taylor Swift and Oasis, not independent Red Dirt bands.
Even Baylor University is buzzing with excitement about hosting the history-making Waco show.
“We can’t wait to welcome The Boys from Oklahoma down I-35 and into the heart of Texas for what promises to be an incredible show at McLane Stadium,” said Jason Cook, Baylor’s VP of Marketing and Communications. “This event will be a perfect way to kick off the fall semester as we head into football season.”
Jovan Overshown, Baylor’s Deputy Athletics Director, echoed the sentiment, saying, “Tickets are officially sold out, demonstrating the immense excitement surrounding this event. We look forward to immersing visitors in a truly exceptional experience on the Brazos.”
Cody Canada on Bringing Ragweed to Texas
For Cross Canadian Ragweed frontman Cody Canada, bringing the show to Texas was an obvious choice.
“Texas has been a giant when it comes to support for our music, and Waco is in central Texas, so it’s right in the middle of our base,” Canada shared. “My favorite part about this show is that we have a lot of friends there, and a lot of people we consider family. Wade Bowen is family, and he’s from Waco, so he was the very first person I picked.”
As for what’s next? Canada isn’t making any promises about a full tour—yet.
“When it comes to a tour, we don’t have a plan for that right now. It’s one town, one show at a time. But with the success in Stillwater, we’d have to be crazy not to bring this to Texas with our brothers in the Turnpike Troubadours. The love we have received from regrouping is beyond belief for me. The wave started in Stillwater, and we’re gonna ride it to Texas and see where we go from there.”
The Ultimate Red Dirt Experience—With Beer & Wine in the Stadium!
In case the stacked lineup wasn’t enough, McLane Stadium will expand its food & beverage offerings for this event, meaning beer and wine will be available inside the venue—a rare treat for a stadium event on a college campus.
With every single ticket gone, the demand for Red Dirt’s most legendary band is higher than ever. Could more shows be on the horizon? Stay tuned, because this Ragweed revival isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
